What are Deep Sky Objects?

These elusive objects capture the hearts of many an amateur astronomer, drawing in many to the hobby. Unfortunately, with few exceptions, these are not naked-eye objects. Some that can seen with the naked eye are the Pleiades, the Hyades, Coma Berenices, the Orion Nebula, and the Andromeda Galaxy. Deep Sky Objects (DSOs) are anything really that is not an individual star or solar system object (e.g. planets, moons, comets, asteroids, etc.). While not an extensive catalogue, this page provides some interesting targets for amateur astonomers with a camera, binoculars, or a telescope.
