Nomenclature

Chalawan

The Thai Astronomical Society of Thailand named this star and two of its exoplanets as part of the NameExoWorlds 2015 contest. The star was named Chalawan after ชาละวัน Chalawan, the crocodile king of the Thai folk tale ไกรทอง Krai Thong. Its exoplanet companions were named Taphao Kaew and Taphao Thong after ตะเภาแก้ว Taphao Kaew and ตะเภาทอง Taphao Thong, two sisters from the folk tale. The inciting event of Krai Thong was the abduction of Taphao Kaew by Chalawan to make her his bride.
