Nomenclature

Kamelos

Kamelos from Greek κάμηλος kamelos, 'camel', was chosen to name this star as a pun on Camelopardalis, 'spotted camel'. The name also commemorates Jacobus Bartschius's alternative name for the constellation, Camelus Rebeccae, alluding to his belief that it represented the camel that brought Rebecca to Isaac in Genesis 24.
