Nomenclature

Liesma

The star and its exoplanet were named as part of the NameExoWorlds 2019 contest by Latvia. Liesma is from Latvian, meaning 'flame'. Its exoplanet companion was named Staburags, a term denoting a rock with symbolic importance in literature and Latvian history. The two names were chosen as they relate to the objects they describe as well as because they are the names of two characters in the Latvian poem Staburags un Liesma by Fridrihs Malbergis.
